Building a Canoe

It is official, I am building a canoe. Tuesday night my good friend Kevin and I met to discuss building our first canoes. At this point we have researched online and have some valuable print resources on the way. We are fairly certain we are going to build fiberglass canoes. The length is something we are still debating as we are not sure if we want to build light canoes for portaging or larger heavier canoes for “car” camping.

For those looking to build their own canoe here are some of the better resources we found:

Facebook PPC Advertising

In an effort to boost sales at BeardHats.com I setup a PPC campaign with Facebook to gauge the quality of the leads versus say Google’s Adwords. Facebook’s tools for setting up the ad and the audience seemed comparable to Adwords with the exception of deeper targeting due to the amount of personal information Facebook has about their users. After running for about 3 days now the exposure and traffic seems comparable so far with no strong relation to any higher conversion. If I find any conclusive evidence over the next month I will report back.

Pre Sale Support for Earn1k

Today I was given the opportunity to handle some pre-sales support for Ramit Sethi’s Earn1k program. Having been through the program myself I am quite impressed with the materials offered, and the value they can drive for freelancers. With that in mind I was happy to help out when asked in an Earn1k Alumni survey. I was able to past the “test” question meaning I am familiar enough with Ramit’s strategies to share with others which was kind of cool. I am not sure how much traffic Ramit and his team expected for their day of Alumni provided support, but I was actually a bit disappointed when I only had the opportunity to field 1 interested lead’s questions. All-in-all I was glad to do it though as I may have been able to help another fellow entrepreneur launch himself into a success career.

If you are interested in starting to freelance, and would like to craft an offer that customers cannot refuse then check out Earn1k.com
