In the fourth week on June (23rd-26th) a year old idea and months of planning came together. Last year while backpacking the Superior Hiking Trail, Amy and I came upon a Christian group of backpackers that were primarily teens with a couple of group leaders our age. It was not long before I felt God telling me I needed to use my outdoor skill sets for just such an adventure. This year this manifested itself into a trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW, often shortened to BWCA) with three other Christian men I knew. Jonathan, who I know from River Valley Church (RVC), Phil, a colleague at work, and Justin, a fellow Saint Marry’s graduate.
We dubbed the trip the “Men of God” trip due to our shared faith in God. The trip was a healthy time apart from our families where we were able to chat and share about our faith and how we live by it. It was AWESOME. Without a doubt one of my best trips to the BWCA.
